Join us for Google Summer of Code 2009!

Update: Google Summer of Code is now open for student applications! Please submit now. Amarok applications should be sent to the KDE organization.

As in the past few years, Amarok will try to get slots in this year's Google Summer of Code -- and if you're a student, we want *you*. There are many things we'd love to see implemented and worked on. Don't miss out on your chance to work with an awesome group of people passionate about music, programming, and (of course) all manner of geekery. Check out the Amarok section on the KDE Techbase GSoC Ideas page, see if there's an idea that you'd like to implement (or come up with your own) and get in touch if you'd like to work with us this summer!

Students are already sending their ideas and beginning to develop their proposal on the Amarok mailing list. The proposal itself is crucial to being selected. Please checkout the examples of two proposals that were selected last year: MP3tunes and Media Devices to see what we expect.

Google Summer of Code will begin taking student applications on March 23rd NOW. We suggest you submit at this time; the earlier you submit the more likely that KDE mentors are to read your application.

Amarok at CeBIT 2009

The Amarok Team is proud to announce that the Linux New Media jury selected us as one of the 15 open source projects that get a sponsored booth at this year's CeBIT in Hannover, Germany . CeBIT is, as you might know, the largest IT expo in the world, to take place from 3rd to 8th March on the Hannover expo area! You will be able to find us in Hall 6, as part of booth F 50. We will show you the latest developments there and also have a short talk showing Amarok in action on Saturday, 4:20 PM, in the nearby CeBIT Open Source Forum. Mike will be there, too.

And of course there also is a small surprise for you. We received several guest tickets, each one valid for one day, that we can give away to our community. Want one? Simply show us you are an Amarok fan by sending us a proof of some kind: pictures, videos, etc. Be creative. Oh, and alternatively we also take CeBIT survival tips from you. Don't forget to leave a valid mail address, and of course we expect you to visit our booth if you get a ticket from us.
